Prep for Solo District has begun

The old Nissan dealership and GoodYear Tire Service Centre sites have been fenced off and the buildings are being demolished to make way for the Solo District development.  Construction is expected to begin this summer.  So far, the Milestones restaurant is open for business as usual.

  2. Can't be Save On or Price Smart (owned by the same co). Whole Foods does not fit the demographic in the area. There is a Safeway at Hastings & Willingdon. I don't see a superstore as there is one in Metrotown and one near Grandview & Rupert so really the only choice is maybe a Walmart, T&T or IGA? I just hope we don't get No Frills or some cheaper quality grocery store.

    1. T&T is located at Metrotown and at Renfrew and 1st Ave. Maybe an H-Mart or Choices? IGA recently moved out of its location across from Burnaby Mountain Golf Course and might be planning a new opening in Brentwood.

  3. Actually, I think there is a good chance that a Whole Foods will be a part of that development. I used to work for the company and know that they have been planning on a new location in North Burnaby. In terms of the demographic in Burnaby, I think that this area would be a good fit.

    1. I would love it if a Whole Foods opened there. It would definitely see my business to fulfill some of my grocery needs.

  4. Whole Paycheck Foods sucks and is expensive, it's the last thing we need in our neighbourhood. Would be nice to be walking distance to T&T

    1. Whatever grocery store comes in, it will benefit consumers in terms of choice. The "Whole Paycheck Foods" is quite funny, though!
