According to The Amazing Brentwood's Instagram post, the Food Court area will be opening tomorrow. The opening of the Food Court space is welcome news as the Covid pandemic was the latest cause for the delayed opening. Whether any of the food outlets will be opening tomorrow remains to be seen as no official announcement has been made. Meanwhile, the outdoor area of Brentwood is beginning to see many future store signs appear.
With the pandemic soon to be in the rearview mirror, hopefully the scene around Brentwood will be more lively and filled with people by this Fall as we head towards Christmas.
Hi, I really enjoy your blog. One of the biggest issues with the area is the lack of pedestrian access, especially around Brentwood station. For example crossing from the whole foods to go to the mall is 14 lanes of traffic.
ReplyDeleteOne of my ideas is to increase pedestrian connectivity. Specifically my idea is to create a pedestrian only plaza at Willingdon and Lougheed. To allow for this, a big trench can be dug, and all car traffic would be moved underground, and then a pedestrian only plaza built on top. This way the vehicle flow can be maintained, and there would be no car / pedestrian conflicts whatsoever.
For me Brentwood feels like just a place with many towers, but no community. My view is that this could really establish connectivity across the four areas of SOLO that are currently separated by Willingdon and Lougheed, and tremendously increase pedestrian safety.
Want to know if you think this is a good idea?
