The residents there aren't going to like it (just my guess).Brentwood Stationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04512134950734421400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8209325762560286163.post-33352071087849969132012-01-22T14:47:02.784-08:002012-01-22T14:47:02.784-08:00According to the pics (https://burnaby.civicweb.ne...According to the pics (https://burnaby.civicweb.net/Documents/DocumentList.aspx?ID=10017) Douglas Rd won't be closed off, but it's not main route.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8209325762560286163.post-72011312658512406702012-01-22T13:02:46.207-08:002012-01-22T13:02:46.207-08:00I wonder if Halifax St west of Douglas Rd will be ...I wonder if Halifax St west of Douglas Rd will be closed off to make room for the development. I checked the 2009.10.05. minutes it says this project has 2 parts. North side is for road and park. Two warehouses in the middle are not included.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8209325762560286163.post-73938100392024938472011-11-29T21:52:47.351-08:002011-11-29T21:52:47.351-08:00The whole PDF on the public hearing is too large t...The whole PDF on the public hearing is too large to post in the comments.

Here is the link to get you close to the PDF file for this hearing on the City of Burnaby website dated October 27, 2009:

https://burnaby.civicweb.net/Documents/DocumentList.aspx?ID=10083

PUBLIC HEARING
2009 October 27
A Public Hearing (Zoning) was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 4949 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. on Tuesday, 2009 October 27 at 7:30 p.m.Brentwood Stationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04512134950734421400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8209325762560286163.post-3396288267841118152011-11-29T21:49:20.925-08:002011-11-29T21:49:20.925-08:00As for the BW Mall redevelopment, the towers are m...As for the BW Mall redevelopment, the towers are most likely to be dispersed throughout the site. The Lougheed front is expected to have a commercial/retail front facing south. The office towers will most likely be along Lougheed Hwy above the commercial front and the residential towers will probably be situated further in on the site off Willingdon Ave. That's just my guess. The Mall itself should see an addition to it to add more retail space.

The closing of Douglas is expected to coincide with an extension of 1 Ave across Gilmore to connect with Douglas Rd further southeast. This connection should improve traffic flow which bottles up at 1 Ave and Gilmore with cars having to either go right or left. The public hearing minutes on this project provides some insight into what the project might look like. I will paste it into the following comment under this post.Brentwood Stationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04512134950734421400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8209325762560286163.post-7469236558873924452011-11-29T16:11:57.886-08:002011-11-29T16:11:57.886-08:00The brentwood Mall redevelopmetn - where will the ...The brentwood Mall redevelopmetn - where will the residential towers be - on the East side of Willingdon or lougheed?

re; Avaria, won't the closing of Douglas force traffic up Carleton or will that street dead end at the new park space? The project will involve 1 high-rise tower with townhouses making up the rest. The space taken up by the development will most likely include some portion of Douglas Rd that will be closed between Halifax and Gilmore. As for the other warehouses that exist in the triangle, I don't know if they will be part of the development.

The Brentwood Mall redevelopment is expected to be huge.
